It was another exciting final for Mario’s Pizza Eating competition held at the Atrium, Trincity Mall on Saturday 3rd October. Contenders from across the nation came in their numbers all seeking to be crowned this year’s winner. Apart from the fun of the event, there being prizes totaling $25,000 was certainly an attractive incentive.
In the Individual category, Peterson McDavid ate his way to first place. Following him were Kenson Bryce and Kerron Borneo respectively in 2nd and 3rd places. For their gallant performance, Paterson won a Mac airbook and a year’s supply of Mario’s pizza. Kenson received an iPad and 9 a month’s of pizza while Kerron got a Gopro and pizza for 6 months.
Getting to winners row was no easy task. From the preliminary round to the final, Peterson amassed 25 slices of pizza on his way to victory, and that’s in the Individual category alone. He also took part in the Group competition. His team Jamaican Elites consumed 54 slices on the day of competition, so Peterson had quite a mouthful overall. His team was not victorious however. That accolade went to Just Bring D Pizza. They took first place and had 66 slices from the preliminary round to the finals. In second place was Iron Stomach. Overall, from the regional competitions to the final round, participants consumed 776 slices of pizza.
For their victory, Just Bring D Pizza won $14,000 and 1 year’s supply of pizza. Second placed Iron Stomach received $4,000 and a 9 month supply of pizza.
With all the excitement witnessed at this year’s event, we’re sure that those who took part cannot wait for the next installment of Mario’s Pizza Eating Championship.
